Edmonton’s Best Live Music Venues

Edmonton’s music scene is diverse, experimental, constantly evolving, and has produced some of the world’s most notable groundbreaking musicians in almost every genre. And we have some legendary live music venues to help support the scene. Take a look at our round-up of the best spots in the city.

Rogers Place - 10220 104 Avenue

Rogers Place is a multi-use arena, most well known for being the Edmonton Oiler’s home stadium. It is conveniently located in the city’s Ice District in the downtown core, which means fine dining is all within walking distance. Getting home from a concert has never been easier with Grant MacEwan LRT station right next door.

Notable performers include: Dolly Parton, The Weeknd, Shania Twain, Cher, and Drake

The Starlite Room - 10030 102 Street

If you like something a little more grungy with a lot of music history (Green Day and Nirvana played in this building!), then look no further than The Starlite room. Located in one of Edmonton’s old brick buildings just off Jasper Avenue, it has been a fixture on the music scene since it opened in 2004. Ask around and you might find a lot of Edmontonians have a “Starlite Room story”.

Notable performers include: Metric, Feist, MGMT, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Questlove

Winspear Centre - 4 Sir Winston Square

For an elegant concert experience with unmatched acoustics look no further than the Winspear Centre. It is not only home to the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra but frequently hosts other concerts and events. Take advantage of the proximity to the art gallery before your show and spend the day touring Edmonton’s Arts District.

Notable performers include: Jann Arden, M83, Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Mendes and Edmonton’s own Purity Ring

Blues on Whyte - 10329 82 Avenue

It’s all in the name: Blues music located on Whyte Avenue in the commercial hotel. With a dive bar feel Blue’s on Whyte offers a quintessential Edmonton experience. Come support local artists and dance the night away or shoot some pool with some of the regulars.

Aviary - 9314 111 Avenue

Established in 2018 with the intention to bring music to everyone as well as help revitalize a neighbourhood. The Aviary provides an intimate and passionate atmosphere to take in Edmonton’s local talent.

Notable performers include: Royal Canoe and Dears

Union Hall - 6240 99 Street

Concerts can get pretty loud when the venue is next to an industrial neighbourhood. Union Hall attracts a young and excitable crowd. Events are jam-packed, loud and a lot of fun but not for the faint of heart.

Notable performers include: Caribou, Japandroids, Snoop Dogg and Simple Plan

Sewing Machine Factory - 9562 82 Avenue (Alley Entry)

You know when the entrance to a place is in the back alley, it’s gonna have an underground feel to it. An intimate and strictly 18+ venue (but they’re working on it) that nurtures the local music and arts scene. The Sewing Machine Factory is a welcoming place to take in live music.

Myer Horowitz Theatre - 8900 114 Street (Floor 1 University of Alberta)

Located on the University of Alberta campus. The Myer Horowitz Theatre is currently, under renovation but has been a fixture in our music and arts scene.

Notable performers include: Stars, Lights, and Iron & Wine

Station on Jasper - 10524 Jasper Avenue

Features local musicians of all genres. If you ever find yourself with the spontaneous need to see a show swing by Station since they boast live music every single day. With a bomb food and drink menu, it can’t be missed.

Midway Music Hall - 6107 104 Street

Playing host to DJs and live performers Midway Music Hall is making a splash on the Edmonton music scene.
